Lean Into the Latency (Why Async AI Workflows Win)
2026-04-07
AI coding started with autocomplete — low-latency, bolted onto existing workflows. But agent workflows are fundamentally async. Instead of fighting that latency, I think we should design around it.
In this episode I talk about why async agent workflows are more natural and accessible, when synchronous creative exploration still wins, the new skills (context switching, task decomposition, orchestration) that matter more in an agentic world, and my prediction for where AI coding lands in a year.
Chapters:
0:00 The Rise of AI in Software Development
5:11 Embracing Asynchronous Workflows
11:41 Navigating Context Switching and Creative Work
17:03 Orchestration Challenges in Async Environments
